Pre-Departure Orientation

The Study Abroad Office hosts a mandatory Pre-Departure Orientation to help you prepare for your experience abroad.  All students, except those enrolled in Faculty-Led and Honors programs, are required to attend. (Faculty-Led and Honors program students will attend a separate pre-departure meeting.)*

What to Expect

Pre-Departure Orientation consists of different components designed to deliver pertinent information regarding your program, as well as give you the flexibility to explore topics of interest.*

Campus Resources: Find out who to contact & get tips on important issues like health insurance, counseling, financial aid, identity-based advising, credit, and more!

Regional Meeting: A meeting will be scheduled to allow you to meet students going to your program, country, and/or region, and pick up tips and skills specific to your destination.

Pre-Recorded Webinars: Student can access webinars on a variety of topics presented by Study Abroad Office staff, campus representatives, and Study Abroad Peer Ambassadors and other returned students. Topics may include diversity & identity Abroad, logistics such as budgeting, packing, and travel, and mental health and staying healthy abroad.
