Other Funding Sources
In addition to UNC Study Abroad Office Scholarships, UNC Honors Carolina Study Abroad Scholarships, and the Phillips Ambassadors Scholarship, there are scholarship opportunities available through various UNC departments and outside organizations. Review the resources below for more information!

UNC Office of Distinguished Scholarships
The Office of Distinguished Scholarships (ODS) offers a Strive: Scholarship and Fellowship database, filled with numerous study abroad scholarship opportunities for you to view. Contact ODS to learn more about application information and advising.
Embark Carolina has a terrific Funding Finder database which includes scholarship opportunities offered by many UNC departments and centers on campus as well as public and private organizations outside UNC.
Outside study abroad scholarships include any funding from sources other than UNC Chapel Hill or the state or federal government. Awards from companies, foundations, civic and religious organizations are common examples of outside scholarships.

Third-Party Study Abroad Scholarships
Many third-party study abroad scholarship programs (SIT, IES, CET, SFS, API, etc.) offer scholarship funding to help cover study abroad expenses. If you are planning to participate in any of these programs, look on their websites for scholarship information.
Foreign Language & Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships
Foreign Language & Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships support students taking less commonly taught language and area studies coursework. This program provides both academic year and summer fellowships to graduate and undergraduate students at the intermediate level and above.
