Study Abroad for All Carolina

The Study Abroad Office is dedicated to providing transformative and inclusive academic opportunities to all Carolina students at sites around the world. With your support, we can make study abroad more affordable for students and their families, and open access to students who are currently unable to take advantage of this life-changing opportunity. By giving to the Study Abroad Fund, you will help the University deliver on its promise of a “global guarantee” for all Carolina students to have a meaningful global experience during their studies.

Investing in Strategic Priorities

The Study Abroad Office will apply the Study Abroad for All Carolina funds toward its strategic priorities for expanding and diversifying study abroad opportunities, according to the following principles:

Access & Affordability

Creating new scholarship awards for students with financial need, covering modest amounts of unmet need that may prevent students from participating in study abroad, canceling program balances for students who are unable to continue their studies because of debt incurred through a study abroad program.

Diversity & Inclusion

Directing scholarship funds toward students who are typically underrepresented in study abroad, developing study abroad opportunities that meet the specific needs and interests of these students, conducting outreach to underrepresented groups, and engaging faculty who work with underrepresented students.

Program Innovation

Introducing new program models, lengths, pedagogical approaches, disciplinary and interdisciplinary content, and destinations to engage greater numbers of students and faculty in study abroad.

Program Quality

Ensuring that study abroad programs match the academic rigor and align with the on-campus curriculum at UNC Chapel Hill, and that faculty are well equipped to advise students about study abroad opportunities and lead programs abroad.
