Why did you choose to study abroad and how did you select your program?
I wanted to experience a different culture and push myself out of my comfort zone. I have always had a strong feeling of going to Australia, and I had a friend who is from Melbourne and said that it is an amazing place.

What did you learn about yourself?
I am able to push myself much further than I thought and love to meet people from all over the world.

What is one of your favorite memories from your program?
Going to Tasmania for a week with a group of international students that I had become close friends with. We just rented cars and drove and hiked all around Tasmania.

What advice do you have for future study abroad students?
Push yourself to meet other people and initiate plans with people. Also don't be scared or afraid of what others think about you, everyone is there to learn and have a good time.

Would you do it again?
In a heartbeat!

How did your study abroad experience prepare you for your future career?
To be able to see things from different perspectives and just be overall more welcoming of everyone.

How do you identify?
Student of color, First Generation College Student, Covenant Scholars

Is there any advice you would give to other students who share your identity?
You can still study abroad if you are a Covenant!

If you faced any challenges abroad, where could you turn to get the support you needed?
My family, friends, and resources at the university that I was abroad at.
