About My Study Abroad Program

Major/Minor: journalism and political science
Program: Honors Carolina in London with internship
Location: London, England
Email: wbmciver@email.unc.edu
Term: Fall 2022

Why did you choose to study abroad and how did you select your program?
I was drawn to the study AND work element of this program. I thought it was such a unique opportunity to experience the work and school culture of a country at once. I was also drawn to all the qualities London had to offer as such a large city with so much history. I liked that I would be taking UNC classes and have a hub in a new country in the Winston House.

What did you learn about yourself?
I learned I was more flexible than I thought I was when it came to scheduling, traveling, and adapting to a new country.

What is one of your favorite memories from your program?
I loved Thanksgiving at the Winston House! It was so neat to see what everyone was able to make to bring to the potluck in their flats.

What advice do you have for future study abroad students?
Find the familiarity where you can! Develop little constants like a local workout class or coffee with a friend from class.

How do you identify?
