Why did you choose to study abroad and how did you select your program?
I wanted to have an immersive cultural experience I wouldn't be able to have other times in my life, and Asia seemed like a great place for that opportunity. I initially applied to go to Hong Kong, but I switched to Thailand when COVID made Hong Kong unlikely.
What did you learn about yourself?
I learned a LOT of independence and self-advocacy skills, specifically related to travel and visas. More generally, I learned to get along with and empathize with folks from all different cultural backgrounds.
What is one of your favorite memories from your program?
Travelling with friends from all over the world in general, but specifically getting my scuba diving certification on my trip
What advice do you have for future study abroad students?
Find where you feel physically safe, and take your time easing into new opportunities and experiences.
