Why did you choose to study abroad and how did you select your program?
I chose DIS as my program because I've never traveled to Europe before and I knew almost nothing about Scandinavia. I wanted to do something fun in my last summer before graduation and I had the free time, so I was super excited!
What did you learn about yourself?
I learned that I'm more willing to try new things when I'm in a completely new environment. I tried so many foods and activities that I probably wouldn't have done at home.
What is one of your favorite memories from your program?
My favorite memory is from my study tour in Croatia with my Travel Writing class. My friends and I went swimming at the most beautiful beach I've ever been to. The Adriatic Sea is so salty that you barely have to tread water to stay afloat. It was so magical and I would go back in a heartbeat if I could.
What advice do you have for future study abroad students?
Jump in feet first! It may seem scary being so far away from home, but it's so worth it once you get comfortable. Find a program that provides support that you need and offers classes you're interested in. Try everything you can because you never know when you'll be back!
