Why did you choose to study abroad and how did you select your program?
I received the Excel Summer Study Abroad Fellowship, and I knew I always wanted to study abroad and this gave me the means to Study Abroad. I am also a Biology major and Organic Chemistry was I class I needed to take. Then when I found out the program was in Dublin I knew it was perfect as my grandparents are from Ireland, and I have my entire extended family in the UK or Ireland. I was overjoyed I found this program.
What did you learn about yourself?
I learned how to be confident in myself and put myself out there and say yes to new experience and I had the best time of my life and made so many friends.
What is one of your favorite memories from your program?
My favorite memory was our trip to Galway as a program, it was a break from the hustle of the city and a break from our classes, and we really got to know each other well and experience a lot of the great culture of Ireland.
What advice do you have for future study abroad students?
Please do not let your uncertainties stop you! The first day I arrived in Dublin I was nervous and scared I was about to spend the next 7 weeks alone and stressed about my classes, but this couldn't have been any farther from my experience. I made incredible memories and friends, and I hope everyone can experience a study abroad at some point during their time ate Carolina.
