American Studies encourage all majors and minors to gain global perspectives through study abroad. Courses taken abroad may contribute to AMST major requirements. When filling out a new course request, please list the specific requirement for which you are trying to earn credit in your major or minor program.

American Studies majors and minors are encouraged to apply for the Julia Preston Brumley Scholarship that honors the memory of a UNC graduate who was raised in Chapel Hill and was passionate about traveling abroad. This Scholarship provides up to a $3,000 award to help off-set the cost of studying abroad for a summer, semester, or an academic year.
