Why did you choose to study abroad and how did you select your program?
I chose to study abroad because of my love for adventure and stepping outside of my comfort zone. I wanted to meet new people and experience different cultures. I selected the exchange program at the University of Copenhagen to gain more immersion, independence, and academic growth. As one of the most livable cities in the world, Copenhagen provided an ideal environment for my study abroad experience.

What did you learn about yourself?
I learned that I can adapt quickly. I've never been so far from home by myself for such a long period of time. Furthermore, it was my first time going to Europe, and I didn't know anyone before the start of the program. Starting from scratch, I made friends from around the world, navigated new cities, learned to cook, stayed on top of academics, and much more. There were challenges along the way, but I did my best and eventually, everything was alright.

What is one of your favorite memories from your program?
One of my favorite memories was cold plunging, a tradition in Northern European culture. It was always fun to challenge myself and my friends by briefly swimming in the cold, clean waters of the harbor or the beach. We would climb out freezing but feeling accomplished and refreshed!

What advice do you have for future study abroad students?
Try to stay as prepared as possible. Be proactive and reach out for help because most people are happy to help! Do your best and try to stay calm. It's not always easy, but things will eventually work out if you try.

How do you identify?
