Why did you choose to study abroad and how did you select your program?
The Honors Seminar in DC was a clear option for me as an economics & public policy student looking to gain experience in a central place for American policy. I wanted to take my experience that I gained at the University through classes & work to another environment, & DC was a great place to do that.
What did you learn about yourself?
I learned that I have a passion for government. At my internship, I worked for the federal government as part of the Biden-Harris Administration. Though the days were busy & long, I felt fulfilled at the end of the day because of the work I was doing. This is extremely important for people in our position, & I am very grateful for this experience for helping me learn more about my passion.
What is one of your favorite memories from your program?
There was a snow soon after we moved in, & our cohort had a huge snowball fight outside the apartment that night! It was a great time to let some energy out & bond with the other students.
What advice do you have for future study abroad students?
Embrace the uncertainties & do your best. It will not always be glamorous, but understand that there is value even in those unglamorous moments.
How do you identify?
