Why did you choose to study abroad and how did you select your program?
I have always loved traveling and Australia was at the top of my bucket list. I am studying sustainability so to have a trip to Australia focusing on that and global change ecology was perfect.

What did you learn about yourself?
I learned that I am far more independent than I realized. I love to lead and get people excited about activities and opportunities while getting to know each other better.

What is one of your favorite memories from your program?
One of my favorite memories was snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef and being out on the water all day getting to learn about the Australian coasts and the animals that live there. We were also able to participate in citizen science research to help scientists learn more about the health of the reef ecosystems.

What advice do you have for future study abroad students?
DO IT!!! It might seem scary or like you would miss out on things at home but these opportunities don’t come often. Traveling can open your eyes to so much you haven’t seen and the world we live in is too beautiful to not see as much of it as you can.

Would you do it again?
Absolutely 100% yes.

How did your study abroad experience prepare you for your future career?
My study abroad experience enlightened me on the different career opportunities available to people who are passionate about helping the environment. I hope to go into social marketing for sustainability, to make a positive impact on a local and global scale.

How do you identify?

If you faced any challenges abroad, where could you turn to get the support you needed?
My professor was always willing to talk and help with anything!
