About My Study Abroad Program

Major/Minor: Business Administration Major, Medical Anthropology Minor, Arabic Minor
Program: CET Jordan
Location: Amman, Jordan
Email: krismeva@ad.unc.edu
Term: Summer 2024

Why did you choose to study abroad and how did you select your program?
I chose CET Jordan because my Arabic teacher recommended it. Specifically, they do a full language pledge where I could only speak in Arabic both in and outside of class. It really forces you to learn spoken Arabic quickly!

What did you learn about yourself?
I learned that I love to challenge myself in uncomfortable positions. Exploring everything Jordanian culture has to offer was an extremely rewarding experience, and when you are put in a place you are not 100% familiar with, everything becomes a learning experience.

What is one of your favorite memories from your program?
One of my favorite memories is exploring Wadi Rum with my friends in the program. The night sky is so clear, it's beautiful. You can see everything from the Milky Way to shooting stars.

What advice do you have for future study abroad students?
Remember why you applied! This is one of those experiences you will never forget. Everything, good or bad, contributes to our developments as individuals. In a foreign environment, you are learning even when you don't realise it.
