Why did you choose to study abroad and how did you select your program?
I chose to study abroad because I really wanted to explore another country and experience a different culture. I selected my program because it had classes which counted toward my major and also because I felt a strong pull to go to Italy in particular.

What did you learn about yourself?
I learned how much I love to travel and explore new places. I realized I am much more adventurous than I would have ever expected.

What is one of your favorite memories from your program?
One of my favorite memories is making friends from other countries on my weekend trips. I also really enjoyed my classes and had the best professors!

What advice do you have for future study abroad students?
I have so much advice to give but the most important thing is to have a good attitude. Students who embrace discomfort and see the good in each situation have the best experiences while abroad. Constantly keeping the right attitude allowed me to have the best two months of my life!

How do you identify?
___

Could you share any experiences where your identity played a role in your time abroad?
Being a female student meant that certain safety issues were important to keep in mind while being abroad. Due to this my friends and I took care of each other and made sure each other were safe. Some of my female friends faced discomfort and/or lack of safety due to this identity.

Is there any advice you would give to other students who share your identity?
Be smart and confident. Do not put yourself in unsafe situations and do not act timid in situations when you should be prepared to defend yourself; you should not be in these situations, but just in case, be prepared.
