Why did you choose to study abroad and how did you select your program?
I was actually born in England, and I have always wanted to travel there and experience the city as a resident. As a sport administration major, this particular program appealed to me since it progressed both my academic goals by completing an elective requirement within my major, and it took place in a country of interest to me.

What did you learn about yourself?
I think I learned a lot about myself socially and emotionally while on this trip. There are so many opportunities that pushed me out of my comfort zone to forge new friendships and have new experiences. Studying abroad is also a learning experience in budgeting and safety in a new environment.

What is one of your favorite memories from your program?
One of my favorite memories was attending the women's FA Cup Final match at Wembley Arena. Although this was not a mandatory or included part of the program, everyone on this trip went together. The game set a record in women's FA Cup attendance, the game was so exciting, and it was a great way to bond with my peers.

What advice do you have for future study abroad students?
I think it's really easy to compare your experience abroad to other people and feel that you aren't having as much fun as you could or that some part of your experience is less than it should be. My advice would be that it's okay to have negative feelings while abroad. Whether you feel slow to make friends or are just homesick, it's okay, and those feelings will pass as you adjust to surroundings.
