Why did you choose to study abroad and how did you select your program?
I had never lived in a big city and thought London would be a fun place to be. I found out about the King's College exchange option, and I saw that they offered religious studies classes and decided to go!

What did you learn about yourself?
As someone who's struggled with anxiety, this experience allowed me to live in the moment and realize that worrying about things is not worth it. I remember being really anxious on the plane ride over, but being forced out of my comfort zone into a country I'd never been really helped me see that things always work out. I remember struggling to make friends at first as well, but I was able to connect really closely with 4 other girls. I gained so much confidence in myself in almost all aspects and now I feel equipped for whatever life throws at me post-grad.

What is one of your favorite memories from your program?
Watching the UNC-Duke game with other UNC students studying abroad in London. When we won, we rushed the Big Ben instead of Franklin street!

What advice do you have for future study abroad students?
You will face uncertainties- that's the nature of being abroad. My advice would be to embrace it and trust yourself because you can handle it. Also, to always reach out for support whenever you need it, whether that's to your professors or to your mom.
