Why did you choose to study abroad and how did you select your program?
I chose this program because my dad did the same program as a junior in college, and later taught as a painting professor in the program. He said it was the best summer of his life- can’t argue with that!
What did you learn about yourself?
I learned that I can am very competent, capable, and independent. I tend to get stressed out about logistics- I wouldn’t have tried to plan a trip in the US, let alone a different country, before studying abroad. Now, I feel equipped, comfortable, and excited to travel in the future, with or without a program.
What is one of your favorite memories from your program?
Too many to choose from!! My friends and I took many weekend trips to different cities in Italy. We stayed on the coast in a city called Livorno on a houseboat! It was a very small old boat with a tiny cabin and very proud Airbnb host who took us to his favorite restaurant where we had fresh seafood and the best pasta I’ve ever had in my life. What advice do you have for future study abroad students?
Uncertainties are part of the experience! Learn to let go and take things in your stride. Remember how boring life is in your comfort zone.
