Public Policy
Goldsmith, Willwilliam.goldsmith@unc.edu
Special Notes:
To receive elective credit toward the major or minor in Public Policy for a course taken abroad, please submit a full syllabus for the course that includes information about the dates, days, and times the course met and a description of assigned reading and grading assignments/exams. If all of this information is not included on the syllabus, please provide the information in your notes and include supporting documentation. The Public Policy department rarely awards transfer credit for core courses in the public policy major or minor. Approval requires that the course material in the course taken abroad be nearly identical to that of the department's required course. If you are requesting credit for a core course, please provide substantial documentation of course content and assignments (e.g., written work) completed. Credit for Econ 101 must be awarded by the Economics department.

SEJ Minor: Things to Consider for Study Abroad Credits:
- Only one study abroad course can count for the minor (not including the service learning requirement)
- EE credit and service learning credit are not the same thing: if you would like to fulfill your service learning requirement through study abroad, you need to complete some kind of community service or volunteering as part of the program associated with a specific course.
- It is highly unlikely that you will be able to earn your core course credit abroad

Recommendation from the ROMS Study Abroad Advisory Committee to the Study Abroad Office
The Study Abroad Advisory Committee in the Department of Romance Studies (ROMS-SAAC) recommends that students interested in studying abroad in the Spanish-speaking parts of the world be made aware that transfer courses for ROMS must correspond to the content of the SPAN tracks, minors, or majors. This means that a math course, though taken in Spanish, may not count for the SPAN minor or major. Please ask students to check with the Study Abroad advisor as well as with any of the ROMS departmental advisors before they go abroad.
