Travel tips

It is suggested that students wait to receive their I-20 form before making travel arrangements.

When you travel, make sure that you carry your documents on your person and not in your checked luggage. These documents include your passport with visa, I-20 form, evidence of financial resources, evidence of exchange visitor status (recent tuition receipts, transcripts), and the name and contact of the designated school official at UNC. Remember: Do not check these in your baggage.

The closest airport is Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU).

Getting from the airport to campus

Taxi and car sharing services are available at the airport. Some taxis will have a flat fee to UNC Chapel Hill. Bus services will also be available, though these will typically take much longer than alternative options.
